Unlearning: the process that allows evolution to occur naturally by removing mental constructions that no longer serve human nature

BETTER SORRY THAN SAFE
Living The Unlearned Life

It is always prudent for the unlearner to question long held axioms of society, especially when one finds oneself living in the sickened conditions of this go 'round of human civilization. We've all heard the phrase "better safe than sorry", told to us first and innocently enough by parents and reinforced through more authority figures, such as teachers, as our lives went on. Even though the phrase is often laced with good intentions, it's also paved the road to hell for many in their mind-controlled realities.

Seeking safety is a biological drive still strong in the human species, and in some ways it is sad that this is so. We've inhabited this planet for untold thousands of years, perhaps millions, and yet the majority of consciousness is still focused on the mere survival of the physical form. This is true even in "advanced" countries, like the Untied States and those in Western Europe, who have been reaping the spoils of conquest of the non-white world for centuries, yet still create fearful perceptions of a dangerous world in order to justify further abuse of their citizenry.

It is a scandal to the more unlearned of this planet that so much of our thoughts and therefore resources go towards the protection of the status quo, when the status quo itself is failing miserably to provide humanity with an existence worthy of our nature. What is it that is subverting our grandest aspirations for human life and culture? What is behind the incessant cry for safety?

For certain, it is not the natural evil of mankind. If mankind has a nature at all it is a good one. I'm sure all of you can come up with countless arguments against such a claim, but before you do, consider instead that humankind's greatest fault, which is also her greatest gift, is that we trust.

Many of the evils we perpetrate arise not out of a conscious will to harm one another but because we believe what we have been told by authority figures all our lives. Our initial loving instincts give us no reason to doubt the ones who teach us as we grow up. Furthermore, we don't have the conscious filters on our mind for the first six or so years of our lives, meaning we absorb every idea and emotion that's out there without the skill to discern which are healthy for us and which are not. Even when the mind does begin to think critically, these skills are not fully developed until our adult years, and for many adults, they will never develop at all. Sickness becomes the healthy norm in an Orwellian world.

As a former counter-intelligence officer (I was a High School Teacher), it is clear to me that our educational system was not designed to develop the skills of critical discernment. Yes, there are good teachers who work hard to impress their students with the importance of critical thinking, but the system as a whole does not. The fact that our world continues to march closer to self-destruction with each passing generation is a fair indictment on the worthlessness of our system. Bravo to the homeschoolers trying to reverse this trend!

We all know that part of the "coming of age" process is the end of innocence. We begin to see that our trust can be misplaced in gods, people and things, so we naturally want to shield ourselves from future hurts. This is where the game wardens win and humans lose.

What do I mean by "game wardens"? They are the architects of all the mind traps humanity has been stumbling around in for ages. Their purpose is to construct philosophies of life for you in order to control your behavior. They realize that humans are an immensely powerful and creative lot. By harnessing our trusting perceptions, humanity can be made to do all sorts of actions that benefit only an elite portion of the population on this planet instead of the species as a whole.

Some of the mind traps become laughingly obvious as time goes by. For example, the earth is not flat. The idea is so silly it is hard to believe such a concept was seriously embraced for so long, especially since it was known since the beginning of civilization that the earth was round. But as old traps fail, new ones will be continually created until we finally ask the right questions, such as "Who benefits?"

This test clearly renders the War on Terror a farce of harmful proportions. Because we have not asked the question "Who benefits?" en masse, many of us continue to believe that the West is under attack by Islamic Fundamentalism, just like we believed the West was under attack from the Russian Communists. Neither was true. But the belief generated by such falsities has been benefiting an elite class of financiers and human parasites who do not have the creativity to make a living in the private sector and have become dependent on the public dole in over its head in debt.

Our quest for perpetual safety is, ironically enough, ensuring our destruction. It must be so, for this is the way the universe works. The sponsoring thought behind the desire for safety is that the world is unsafe, and so our powerful minds self-reflect this in manifest reality. If we are to unseat this illusion, then a new paradigm must be practiced.

And the new paradigm is this; Better to be Sorry than Safe! This means that an unlearned life is one that is willing to take risks and to face fears for sake of human growth and the pursuit of happiness. Such risks become easy to take when the trust is channeled not to the external architects of society, but to our internal Higher guidance systems, which knows this reality is a game of our making. The sponsoring thought is one of safety, which is when we feel most comfortable taking risks!

Please do not underestimate the power of such a subtle shift in thought. The movement of a ship's rudder by so much as a degree can alter it course miles into the future. Those of you looking to change the world can do your part simply by trusting the power within you to create what is good. Do more if you like, but no more than this is necessary.

Will there be sorrows to be visited in such a life? Absolutely! But what sorrows they will be! They will be part of the treasure of your life and you will savor each one, because they will mean that you have lived life richly; you will have entered the game and played for all your worth instead of sitting on the sidelines bemoaning the way the game is going; you will have taken risks, seen more, and grown to a greater potential than you could have ever done sitting on your ass and letting your dreams slip away.

I could go on endlessly pointing out all the lies that a safety first mentality is built upon, but part of the unlearning game is figuring them out for yourself, that is, if you have the guts to be an unlearner!
